Tailor Military Uniform - Joint Base Lewis-McChord: After the recent announcement of regulatory changes for advanced combat uniforms, many soldiers are rushing to the tailor shops and donating their hard-earned money as that they can throw away the velcro. Some soldiers are reluctant to make the switch because of the costs involved. But one of JBLM's best-kept secrets is about to change that.
The 593rd Sustainment Brigade's 295th Quartermaster Company Clothing Repair Shop, located in the 80th Ordnance Battalion motorpool at JBLM-North, provides repair and replacement services to all service members at no charge.

Sgt. Maj. Scott D. Lesch of the 112th Army Signal Station had named the ribbon, USA ribbon, rank and rank insignia sewn into two of his uniforms: one at the Army Repair Shop ' and the other belongs to the public tailor. Although the quality of the soldier's work was not as high as that of civilians, Lesch said he would still use his services if he needed to replace the Velcro on his uniform.
"This is a great service for our Soldiers," Lesch said. "Professionally done. And everything is within regulations."
"We can save the Soldiers a lot of money, about $15 per uniform," said Sgt. 1st Class Alecia D. Booker, a platoon sergeant and outfitter assigned to the 295th QMC, is also a native of Thomasville, N.C.
The benefit is twofold. "Giving these guys more training, an opportunity to do their job," Booker told the Soldiers in his group. "The soldiers want a lot of work. We have received a few people, but not as many as we can handle."

Soldiers assigned to the store soon received refresher training for their jobs. In addition, company NCOs were trained to troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment.
Repairs are made in a military trailer so that the seam can be assembled under field conditions.
"It really boosts the morale of Soldiers when they get what they need, especially in the field," Booker said. In addition to uniform repair, the 295th QMC also provides laundry and shower facilities.

Those who want to take advantage of the free services should make sure to empty their pockets and document everything, Booker said. Surrender forms are available at 80th Ord. Mr. electric pool
